Curtis was born on September 27, 1952 in Oklahoma city, to Cecil and June (Rux) Olson.
They moved to the Littlefork area in 1955.
Curtis went through his school years in Littlefork. After graduation, Curtis moved to Thief River Falls and was employed at Arctic Cat.
He married Debra Cote in 1974 and they had two children together – Conway and Nicosia (Nicky – who was born after his death).
Curtis and Debbie moved to Littlefork in 1975-76 and he was employed by Nordlund’s Logging when he had his fatal accident while working. He was survived by his spouse, Debra (Cote) Olson, son Conway and unborn daughter Nicosia, his parents, Cecil and June Olson, and sisters Janice and Deanne all of Littlefork. |

Cindy was born on July 1, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Lane and Phillis (Lund) Carter. She had eight siblings, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She grew up in Bloomington and moved to Littlefork in the winter of 1966. She was married to Greg Timmer on Sept. 19, 1970 and they had two children. |
![]() | Debra Rae Donner, 48, of Belmond, Iowa, died on June 24, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. Debra was born on Oct. 27, 1952 in Littlefork, Minnesota, to Homer (Bud) and Irene (Treat) Donner. She was raised in Big Falls, MN, and graduated from Big Falls High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Hansen on August 29, 1995, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They have made their home in Belmond where she worked at the Pamida Store, We 3 Grocery, and Silver Screen. Preceding her in death were her mother, Irene (Treat) Donner; father, Homer (Bud) Donner; maternal grandparents, Ella and Roe Treat;, paternal grandparents, Homer Donner and Rose Emka. Survivors are her husband, Larry Hansen of Belmond; step-children and their spouses, Lon and Sara Hansen of Soudertown, PA, Kim and Ron Ausborn of Belmond, Deb and Chris Sorensen of Urbandale; step-grandchildren, Amanda , Eric, Nicole, Anthony, Rachel; a sister, Vicki Donner of Big Falls, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Cindy Donner of Silver Bay, MN; grandmother, Clara Donner of Duluth, MN; three nieces; and two nephews. |
![]() | John R. Pasten, 55, of Flagstaff, Ariz., died on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Flagstaff Medical Center. John was born on Nov. 15, 1952 in Chicago, Ill., to John & Doris (Neumann) Pasten. The family moved to Big Falls, Minn., where John started school, but soon returned to Chicago where he attended Barry Elementary School four years, until finally relocating to Minnesota for the remainder of his education, graduating from Littlefork-Big Falls High School. Growing up in Big Falls on the banks of the Big Fork River, John loved the outdoors, spending a lot of his free time fishing and hunting. He worked as a logger in the north woods until moving to Arizona in 1991, securing a position with High Desert Investment Company, where he never missed a day of work, including the day he died. In his role as main skidder operator, John was well liked and respected among his fellow loggers. Survived by daughter, Jessica Pasten of Northome, Minn., grandson Ethan Shull; sister, Joanne (Richard) Hufnagle of Big Falls, Minn.; brothers Dale Olson of International Falls, Minn., and Doug Olson of Superior, Wisc. |

Conrad John Timmer, 57, of Madison Lake Minnesota, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. A memorial service will be held for Conrad at the end of May 2010 at Sibley Park in Mankato. Day and time of the service will be printed in a future edition of the Free Press.
Conrad was born October 12, 1952 in Little Fork, MN to Simon and Hulda (Norland) Timmer. After serving in the US Navy from 1971 to 1979 he worked for Kato Engineering and also Kato Cab. Conrad had many talents, but the things he enjoyed the most were hunting and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by 3 brothers; Raymond Timmer of International Falls, MN, Eugene Timmer of Brazoria, Texas, Norman Timmer of Rosemount, MN; 2 sisters, Pauline (Steve) Jenniges of Lakeville, MN, Ramona Reimer of New Prague, MN and special friend, Monika Mohr of Madison Lake, MN; many nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Conrad will be buried in Littlefork on July 3, 2010. |
![]() | Richard Wayne Williams, 60, of Littlefork Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Littlefork Care Center, after a two-year battle with cancer. Rich was born April 14, 1952 in Bagley, MN to Edgar and Lillian (Jordahl) Williams. He grew up with his three brothers and two sisters and graduated from Littlefork High School in 1970. Richard was employed as a logger, trucker, held various construction positions and spent the last of years building his trenching and boring business. He was a great mechanic, enjoyed four-wheeling, traveling in the motor home, tinkering in the garage and finding any way to have a good time. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lillian Williams; sister-in-law, Bella Williams; and grandson, Abe Fagerstrom. Richard is survived by daughters, Marci (Pat) Boes of Bemidji, and Kelly (Al) Fagerstrom of Bemidji; four grandchildren – Makenzie and Tanner Boes, Isaac and Ben Fagerstrom; soul mate, Rosie Klemetsen of International Falls; “stepdaughter,” Renee Klemetsen of St Louis Park; brothers, Eddie (Shelley) Williams of Littlefork, Kenneth Williams of Rochester and Gregory (Sue) Williams of Littlefork; sisters, Sharon Belanger of International Falls and Sandra (Don) Williams of Lake George; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved animals — “Snuffy,” “Helga Mae,” “Emmy Lou” and “Lizzy.” |
![]() | Gerald Richard Pellinen, 64, of Big Falls, Minn., passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 19, 2016, surrounded by family at the home of his son. Jerry was born July 8, 1952, in International Falls, Minn., to parents George and Shirley (Richards) Pellinen. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Big Falls and graduated from Littlefork-Big Falls High School where he played basketball. He was a logger in the Big Falls area his entire life and worked for various logging operations. He married Debbie Nichols and they had two sons. He later married Vicki Hazelton where they were blessed with a daughter. Jerry finally found the love of his life, Janice Moe, who he spent the final 21 years with. He loved to hunt grouse and deer, fish muskies on the river, teach his grandchildren to hunt and drive, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren at the cabin. |
![]() | Delroy Edward Olson, 65, of Loman, Minn., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Essentia-St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, Minn. Delroy was born to parents Edward “Stub” and Fern (Nicholson) Olson on April 29, 1952, in International Falls, Minn., were he lived until moving to Loman in 1974. He was united in marriage to Jeanie Peri on Dec. 9, 1982, in Baudette, Minn. Delroy was employed by Mando and in 1984 started working for Wagner Construction as a truck driver, mostly driving lowboys. He retired in 2005 with 21 years of service. He enjoyed farming and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Stub” Olson; and his wife, Jeanie Olson. Delroy is survived by mother, Fern; son, Jason Olson of Oklahoma; stepson, Craig (Theresa) Hagen of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Shelley (Derek) Lollis of Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Kim (Lee) Ruzich of Hibbing, Minn.; numerous grandchildren; brothers, Gary Nicholson of Pelland Junction, Minn., and Todd (Pam) St. Pierre of Bemidji, Minn.; sister, Sharon Olson of Loman; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. |

Robert “Bob” Fortier, 65, Big Falls, MN went to be with the Lord Dec. 4, 2017 in Bigfork, MN.
Bob was born July 30, 1952, to George and Audrey Fortier in Elkhart, Indiana. Bob was a graduate of Littlefork-Big Falls High School in 1970. Bob grew up in Wolf Lake, MN north of Nashwauk where his parents owned a small resort. Also Ash River Trail & Big Falls where he spent his time Hunting, Fishing & Trapping, He was an avid outdoorsman. Bob spent his married life with Nancy in Northome, MN resulting in the birth of Danielle their daughter whom he was extremely proud of. Bob ran a small gun shop in Northome, and was a great lover of music. He loved playing his guitar and played over the years with friends and bands in the area. Bob was a lifetime member of the Trappers Ass. & NRA. Bob spent his lifetime driving truck; retiring from Page & Hill forest products due to health reasons. Preceded by parents George and Audrey. Survived by daughter Danielle of Minneapolis, sister Jacque Smith of I-Falls, MN, nieces Lisa Smith & Lydia Smith of I-Falls, MN, nephews Jeremy Smith of Lake St. Croix Beach, MN, & Evan & Levi of I-Falls, MN, aunt Janet (Joe) DeMelo of Portage, MI, uncles Bob & Fritz Adams of Elkhart, IN, step-mother Irene Parker of Big Falls, MN and family from Big Falls, Hill City, Duluth. Betty Suzanne Parker, 67, Big Falls, MN went to be with the lord November 22, 2019.
Betty was born October 8, 1952, to Irene and James Parker in Grand Rapids, MN. She grew up in Hill City, MN until she was almost 12 when the family moved to Big Falls, MN. She attended Littlefork-Big Falls High School graduating in 1970. Betty attended Thief River Falls Vocational Institute for 1 year, she worked and lived in Red Lake Falls for 2 years, before returning to Big Falls. Betty was very active in the Big Falls Covenant Church especially Awana’s & Vacation Bible School. Betty was also very active in the Big Falls Library. Preceded by father James Parker, and brother-in-law Leroy Erickson. Survived By: Mother Irene (Lange) Parker, sister Jan Erickson, brother Ron (Barb) Parker, sister Gwen (Rich) Lumppio, nieces & nephews Mary, Lori, Jenni, Brien, Gina, Jeffrey. 1 grandnephew, 8 grandnieces. |

Bonita Lee Hanson, 68, of Hallock, Minnesota, died on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Kittson County Memorial Hospital, Hallock. Bonita graduated high school from Littlefork Public School in 1970, Rainy River Community College in 1971, Moorhead State University in 1973 and received her Masters in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University in 1985. She worked in the Moorhead, Littlefork-Big Falls, Hallock, Kennedy and, Kittson Central schools as a Special Education, Physical Education, Health & Study Skills teacher. Bonita also coached track at Moorhead South Junior High, volleyball and basketball at Littlefork-Big Falls high school, along with many years of lifetime sports, track and volleyball in the Kittson Central school system. It was in her years of teaching and coaching that she used her strong will to set high expectations for her students and athletes. She retired in 2013 after 32 years of teaching. |
